Voices In Harmony 21st Birthday Concert Raises Over £3000 For The Mary Stevens Hospice
On Saturday 12 May 2018 Voices In Harmony hosted a charity concert at Dudley Town Hall in support of The Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge, and to celebrate their 21st anniversary. The concert raised £3860 for the Hospice
Three other local choirs, Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir, Colla Voce Chamber Choir and Viva Musica joined with Voices In Harmony for this concert. Radio & TV legend Don Maclean MBE ably compered the proceedings with his distinctive brand of humour!
The audience, which included civic dignitaries from both Sandwell and Dudley and also representatives from The Mary Stevens Hospice, enjoyed a range of music covering most genres from classical through the musicals to Queen!
All of the money raised through the concert has now been donated to Mary Stevens Hospice, with representatives of the choir handing over a cheque for £3860 to fundraisers on 20 June 2018.
Charlotte Schofield, Head of Fundraising & Lottery, Mary Stevens Hospice Group said:
“It was an evening that will live long in the memory of everyone in attendance, and a truly wonderful way to celebrate 21 years of such a fantastic organisation.
For our patients to have been chosen as the beneficiaries of such a wonderful evening really is overwhelming and we're so grateful to everyone who worked so hard to bring the concert to life in support of our families.
Here's to the next 21 years!”

Voices In Harmony 20th Anniversary Barn Dance
On 14 October Voices In Harmony held a barn dance for members and friends at Halesowen's Cornbow Hall as a social event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the choir. Live music for the evening was provided by Nic Penn and his band.
Voices In Harmony was formed in 1997 to perform Handel's 'Messiah' in West Bromwich Town Hall as part of the BT Voices For Hospices event that year. After the performance in October 1997 choir members decided that they wanted to continue as a choir. Hence was born Sandwell Community Choir which has evolved into the 70 strong Voices In Harmony mixed voice choir of today. There are still about 12 members who performed in 'Messiah' in 1997 including the Musical Director Stephen Bradley.
